Cut Bank Wastewater Treatment Plant
This project consisted of construction of a new wastewater treatment plant in Cut Bank, Montana. The project included four outbuildings, a pump station, four large BNR basins, and two 40-foot diameter clarifier tanks. The project is situated in a previously existing lagoon adjacent to two actively used lagoons. Some of the design challenges for the project included deep excavations with back slopes extending near the existing embankment and having construction take place without disturbing the existing lagoons. Analyses were performed in multiple cross sections to evaluate slope stability during construction. Also, due to the nature of the proposed structures and groundwater conditions, buoyancy and uplift forces had to be considered for the project.
